The Senior Diesel Mechanic is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, servicing, diagnostics, repair and overhaul of the Company's diesel-powered fleet and equipment. The successful incumbent will provide technical leadership within the workshop, ensure maximum fleet availability, support preventative maintenance initiatives, mentor junior mechanics, and ensure all maintenance activities are conducted in accordance with company standards, HSE requirements, and legislative compliance.
Qualifications:
- Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent.
- Qualified Diesel Mechanic with a recognised Trade Certificate (Red Seal).
- Additional technical certifications or specialised training in diesel diagnostics will be advantageous.
Experience:
- Minimum 8-10 years' post-trade experience as a Diesel Mechanic.
- Previous experience in a senior or lead mechanic role.
- Extensive experience in diesel engine diagnostics, repairs, and preventative maintenance.
- Experience supervising, mentoring, or providing guidance to workshop personnel.
- Proven experience working within a fleet maintenance environment.
Licence
- Valid Code 8 Driver's Licence.
- Code 10 or Code 14 Driver's Licence will be advantageous.
Additional Requirements
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic capabilities.
- Knowledge of workshop management practices and maintenance planning.
- Computer literacy and experience maintaining maintenance records.
- Ability to work under pressure and respond effectively to breakdown situations
