About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Power BI & Microsoft Fabric Specialist with strong end-to-end analytics and modern data platform experience.
The successful candidate will be comfortable operating across data engineering, semantic modelling, report development and executive-level analytics, delivering scalable and business-focused solutions within a Microsoft Fabric environment.
This role requires a highly analytical professional who can bridge the gap between business requirements and technical implementation while driving best practices in analytics, reporting and data management.
Minimum Requirements
- Matric / Grade 12 Certificate.
- Microsoft Power BI Certification.
- Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Data Science, Informatics, Information Systems, Data Engineering, Operations Research or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years' experience as a BI Analyst, BI Developer, Data Analyst, SQL Developer, Insights Analyst or similar role.
- Advanced Power BI expertise, including:
- DAX development
- Semantic model design
- Report and dashboard development
- Performance optimisation
- Row-Level Security (RLS) and Object-Level Security (OLS)
- Deployment pipelines
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Fabric.
- Hands-on experience with:
- Lakehouses
- Warehouses
- OneLake
- Data Pipelines
- Dataflows Gen2
- Notebooks
- Understanding of Direct Lake, DirectQuery and Import connectivity modes.
- Advanced Power BI data modelling skills beyond standard report development and visualisation.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Strong verbal and written English communication skills.

- Valid driver's licence and own reliable transport.
- Must reside in Gauteng.
Key Performance Areas
Data Platform & Engineering
- Design, develop and maintain scalable Microsoft Fabric and Power BI solutions.
- Apply lakehouse and modern data platform concepts, including Delta Tables, Medallion Architecture, ETL/ELT, schema evolution and analytics solutions built directly on lake storage.
- Develop and support data engineering solutions using SQL, Spark/PySpark, APIs, Azure SQL integrations and data quality controls.
Data Modelling & Performance Optimisation
- Apply database and query engine fundamentals.
- Optimise performance across SQL, DAX, Spark SQL, Power BI and Microsoft Fabric workloads.
Analytics & Business Intelligence
- Translate business requirements into scalable data models and analytical solutions.
- Define and maintain KPIs and business metrics.
- Deliver executive-ready dashboards, reports and insights.
- Ensure solutions align with governance, security and compliance standards.
AI & Innovation
- Leverage Microsoft Copilot and AI capabilities across data ingestion, modelling, analytics and user adoption.
- Evaluate emerging Microsoft Fabric and AI capabilities to drive business value and innovation.
Governance & Platform Administration
- Support data governance initiatives and security best practices.
- Monitor and optimise Fabric capacity utilisation and platform performance.
- Contribute to analytics development standards and best practices.
Advantageous Qualifications
- Microsoft Certified: Fabric Analytics Engineer Associate (DP-600).
- Experience with Azure services and cloud-based data platforms.
- Experience with enterprise data governance frameworks and analytics platform administration.
