Mission/ Core purpose of the Job
The Manager: Sourcing & Supplier Management is part of the SCM Service Delivery function at the SSH.
The role would lead and have oversight of the Sourcing & Supplier Management function at the SSH and
support the activities for MTN Operating Companies (Opcos) and SSH. The incumbent would also be
responsible for managing supplier registration and qualification, supplier performance and audit activities
apart from managing Sourcing & Supplier Management team at the SSH.
The Manager, Sourcing & Supplier Management reports to the Senior Manager: SCM Service Delivery
Management and is supported by Supervisors and Administrators. In addition to the oversight of the
Sourcing & Supplier Management team, the purpose of this role is also to partner with SCM Centre of
Excellence (CoE) and Opcos, as applicable to ensure effective and efficient Sourcing & Supplier
Management operations via Oracle and non-process workflows as applicable.

Key Deliverables
Strategy Development and Implementation:
• Lead creation of sub-divisional strategy in line with overarching divisional goals
• Ensure effective implementation of sub-divisional strategy by means of providing direction,
structure, business plans and support
Staff Leadership and Management
• Source, induct, and manage talent in accordance with legislative guidelines
• Ensure open communication channels with staff and implement change management
interventions where necessary
• Provide definition of roles, responsibilities, individual goals and performance objectives for the
team
• Set Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and provide regular performance feedback through a
well-defined and implemented performance review program
• Develop and implement a training plan to build and develop skills within the team
• Performance manage resources in accordance with HR policy and legislation where necessary
• Actively participate in leadership team and develop skills of own team
• Promote a ‘MTN centric’ and ‘partnership approach’ to develop strong relationships with other
working groups and ensure adherence to Group governance
Governance:
Ad hoc and Operational Meetings
• Set up / participate in ad hoc and operational meetings
• Report at process and functional level
Escalations
• Manage and resolve escalations that have impact on critical path of service delivery
• Escalate issues that will result in significant time, scope, employee/client or cost impact if not
resolved
• Manage and provide solutions to issues that require formal resolution
SSH Operational
• Set up and manage project status meetings
• Review and identify key risks, issues and dependencies and set mitigation actions
• Manage budgets
• Sign-off / make decisions regarding operational changes
Performance
• Review performance against agreed KPIs and compliance to Service Level Agreements (SLAs)
• Create and monitor plan for continuous improvement
• Review performance of SSM team
Reporting
• Report on a monthly basis to Senior Manager: SCM Service Delivery Management relating to
progress made within the sub-division and in accordance with the measurement metrics set by
the organisation
• Report on specific projects as per the defined timelines
Budgets
• Manage sub-divisional budgets in line with business objectives
• Manage project initiative budgets in line with business objectives
Oversight and Approval
• Provide input for supplier performance measures and supplier development initiatives
• Review RFI/RFP and ensure completeness of documentation
• Review scores of shortlisted suppliers
• Review RFQ / Auction and ensure compliance with DoA with respect to scoring
• Review changes / amendments if any and ensure compliance with policy / procedures
• Review vendor performances as per defined guidelines
• Review and approval of deactivation of suppliers
• Manage supplier registration and qualification
• Participation in new/other strategic initiatives
• Ensure TAT for registration and qualification are adhered to
Job Requirements (Education, Experience and Competencies)
Education:
• Bachelor’s degree in SCM or equivalent
Experience:
• 4-7 years of relevant experience in SCM or relevant field
• 3 - 5 years in supervisory/managerial role
Industry Certifications:
• Professional Supply Chain Certification – Certified in Production and Inventory Management
(CPIM) Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP)
• Supply Chain Operations Reference model (SCOR) etc
• (Preferred) CIPS Qualification.
